Sea of sorrowLife is but a troubled sea of sorrow,
Shifting on the waves of fate and snow.
Family like the ship that carries us across the waters,
Dreams blow its sails across a Summer sea.
Tragedy strikes the ship down and damages the precious hull,
But friends repair the broken ship so it can sail through Winter storms.
Heavy waves can break a ship,
And end its sailing days.
No more Spring rebirth,
No more Fall recall.
Ship wreaked on an island,
Where new Rib and Keel built.
New ship to carry us through troubled sea of sorrow,
New Dreams to carry us across the waters.
New oceans and new tragedy.
But new ship carries me across the waters.
EasterRemember what you love,
you with sand in your teeth
and the feral burn of hunger
in your eyes.
God sends his regrets.
He made you grasping and slow,
in a late hour
when the wine washed low.
Remember what you love.
Fall to your knees in the toss
and the swell, quell
the appetite of the cold black sea.
Beg blessings for your home
and the salt-sick trees.
Reach what lies near:
the fat-faced child, the sweet-soft lamb;
tether the tantrum, trickle the blood.
Offer psalms to what is holy,
whisper the name of what you love
as it bobs in the bleak mad sea.
